Did you know a personal watercraft or PWC has many names it’s referred to, but it’s really all about the brand?
Kawasaki originally created their jet skis and the models were meant for speed, tricks and were stand-up only. This term is probably the most common as it has been around the longest. Then along came Yamaha with their sit-down models called waverunners. Yamaha’s Waverunner FX is industry known as one of the most reliable and dependable personal watercraft. Last but not least, years later Bombardier came out with their Sea-Doo’s that were a mash-up of both models.
Today, the personal watercraft industry has come a long way. Different companies like Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Bombardier have all come up with their own models, competing to offer the most reliable, dependable, and powerful machines. The industry has changed drastically, with various performance and recreational models being released each year. Regardless of the progress made in the industry, people still use the terms Jet Ski, Waverunner, and Sea-Doo interchangeably, not realizing that these are all brand names. It has become so commonplace that it is just like how Kleenex is used to talk about tissues.
At Diverse Boat Rentals & Tours, we have had many different brands of jet ski’s. Through trial and error, our preferred brand of jet skis’s are the Yamaha Waverunner.

Requirements for the Jet Ski Rental
- Must be 21 years of age to rent and all drivers must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s licence and boating license (can provide FREE temporary boating licence)
Storing the Waverunners
Please note: If you do not plan on keeping the waverunner at night with us at Harbour West Marina that you must have a proper place to store the Waverunners overnight. Storing the Waverunner on the beach at night (or ANY time) is NOT allowed as this can cause damage and ruin the machines.
Acceptable options for overnight storage:
- Back on the trailer
- At a marina dock (Transient slip may be required. We can help with this!)
- Diverse-approved sheltered dock (Diverse may approve your sheltered dock with pictures and by speaking with you, or we will inform you of alternate overnight storage options)
- Mooring
- Small lake dock (with Diverse approval)

Please Note
A $2000 credit card hold is required to rent these jet skis. The hold will be removed once the vehicle is returned safely.
**Prices DO NOT include gas** (If the jet ski is returned with the fuel level at a lower level than when it was received you will be charged gas fees accordingly).
